Jay’s Garden service was founded in 2018 to meet the growing demand for reliable, affordable weeding and mowing in
the neighborhood. Since then, it has evolved into a trusted consumer brand with over 130 clients, transforming and
maintaining properties for homeowners and real estate companies throughout Newton, MA and Denver, CO.
By focusing on strong customer relationships, competitive pricing, and email and social media marketing, Jay’s
Garden Service expanded beyond its initial offerings. This growth highlights my ability to identify a need, build a relatable
solution, and leverage the power of strategic marketing, customer engagement, and brand postioning—key principles I
apply across all my work.
The Beginning
It all began with one neighbor who needed their lawn mowed but didn’t want to hire a big company. One client led to another and I developed a
niche customer base connected across neighborhoods and a known name for real estate companies needing property makeovers.
No progress comes without hard work. I started at $25 an hour, weeding and clearing roots by hand, and worked my way up to $50 an hour for more
advanced tasks like pruning, layout and design, irrigation system setup, and rental property maintenance.
Growth of a Brand
As my client base expanded, I developed a system to track projects,
schedule clients, and handle invoices efficiently. To spread the word about
Jay’s Garden Service, I launched marketing efforts on community listservs
and social media, emphasizing personalizing customer care and
competitive pricing that set me apart.
